Biography

Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major Richard J. Burch was selected as
the 9th Command Sergeant Major of the Army National Guard on March 5th 2010
In this position, Command Sergeant Major Burch represents and advises the
Director of the Army National Guard (DARNG) on matters pertaining to ARNG
policies and actions that affect enlisted Soldiers of the ARNG through meetings,
conferences, information exchanges and on-site observations; coordinates with the
Sergeant Major of the Army and Command Sergeants Major of ARNG and Major
Army Command formations; reviews and inspects field training, inactive duty
training, overseas deployments and Noncommissioned Officer Leadership schools
on behalf of the DARNG.

The CSM serves as the advisor to or member of councils, boards and workshops to include: the DoD Reserve Forces Senior Enlisted Advisory Council; Reserve Components Coordinating Council; Reserve Forces Policy Board; Army Reserve Forces Policy Committee; the CSM Selection Boards; and NGB CSM Advisory Council.
